The Ducati Desmo450 MX Factory is the range topping, works inspired version of Ducati’s motocross machine, built with genuine factory level components for the racer who wants nothing held back. It shares its core architecture with the standard Desmo450 MX but upgrades almost every touchpoint between rider and machine to a level normally reserved for the factory race truck.
Power still comes from the 449.6cc desmodromic single, its 96mm by 62.1mm bore and stroke and 13.5:1 compression producing 63.5hp at 9,400rpm and 53.5Nm of torque at 7,500rpm, fed through a 44mm Mikuni throttle body and driven through a close ratio five speed gearbox with quick shift for instant, clutchless upchanges. A lightweight lithium ion battery and power launch sharpen starts off the gate, while an RK MXU 520 chain with o-rings, running on a 13 tooth front and 49 tooth rear sprocket, adds durability under sustained race abuse.
Where the Factory distinguishes itself is in its suspension finish. Both the Showa upside down fork and the rear mono shock gain dark kashima and titanium oxide coatings with superfinishing, reducing internal friction beyond even the standard bike’s already highly specified kashima treated fork, for suspension action that stays more consistent as a moto wears on. An Ergal machined triple clamp adds further precision to the front end, while Galfer discs and Brembo callipers front and rear, plus Pirelli Scorpion MX32 tyres, complete a chassis package tuned for racers pushing the absolute limit. At a claimed 104kg with a 970mm seat height, 1,494mm wheelbase and 7.2 litre tank, it remains light and precise despite the extra specification.
Selectable Riding Modes, Ducati Traction Control and Engine Brake Control carry over from the standard bike, but Ducati Com-Link wifi connectivity and the X-Link app add deeper set up analysis for teams and serious privateers chasing fine margins.
