The Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin is a true adventure bike, honed for genuine off-road capability while staying comfortable on the tarmac in between. Its 1,084cc liquid-cooled parallel twin, with a 270 degree crank, uni-cam design and a 92.0 x 81.5mm bore and stroke, produces 75.0kW at 7,500rpm and a muscular 112Nm of torque at 5,500rpm for strong, tractable low-down drive exactly where it matters when picking through rocks or ruts. Power is delivered through a manual transmission with a wet multiplate assist and slipper clutch and an O-ring sealed chain, giving riders genuine, direct control when picking a line off-road, rather than software making that decision for them.
A semi-double cradle frame carries a 45mm Showa cartridge-type inverted fork with 230mm of stroke and a Pro-Link swingarm with a Showa gas-charged damper offering 220mm of travel, both with dial-style preload adjustment for quick changes between solo and loaded, two-up riding. Dual 310mm wave front discs with radial-fit four-piston calipers and sintered pads, plus a 256mm rear disc with a two-piston caliper and a rear ABS off mode for off-road use, provide control on loose surfaces as well as tarmac. Bridgestone Battlax Adventurecross Tourer or Metzeler Karoo Street tyres are tubeless and easy to repair out on the trail, far from the nearest garage. With 250mm of ground clearance, a 1,575mm wheelbase and a weight of 231kg, it manages gravel tracks and gnarly climbs with real composure for a bike this size.
A five-position adjustable screen and a seat height adjustable between 850mm and 870mm, with Low and Comfort seat options also available, let riders tailor the fit to their own height and riding style, and an 18.8 litre tank supports serious range between fuel stops on remote routes.
