The Ducati Monster + brings the naked roadster back to its purest form, now built around an all-new 890cc V2 engine. Ducati created the Monster more than three decades ago, and this latest generation is the lightest and most agile yet, pairing a compact 111hp twin with a slim aluminium front frame that uses the engine as a stressed member. The result is a roadster that feels alive at every speed, sharp enough to thrill on a favourite back road yet friendly enough to enjoy every single day.
The + in the name marks the more equipped version of the Monster. It shares the standard bike’s engine, chassis, electronics and suspension exactly, and adds a neat front cowl along with a colour-matched passenger seat cover as standard. The cowl takes the edge off wind pressure at motorway speed, making longer rides noticeably more relaxed, while the seat cover gives the tail a cleaner, sportier line when you ride solo. Everything that makes the Monster special is present, with a little extra finish and comfort for the road.
At the heart of the bike, the 890cc V2 produces 111hp at 9,000rpm and 91Nm of torque, sent through a slick six-speed gearbox with a standard up and down quickshifter. Variable valve timing keeps the drive smooth from low revs to the redline, so the Monster + pulls cleanly in traffic and still rewards a hard ride. Weighing just 175kg, it changes direction with almost no effort.
A full suite of electronics keeps that performance accessible. Riding modes, cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control, wheelie control and launch control are all managed through a 5-inch TFT display, letting you tailor the bike to your mood and the conditions. Showa suspension, radial Brembo brakes and a low 815mm seat complete a package that is confidence-inspiring for newer riders and genuinely fun for experienced ones.
Available in a range of colours including Ducati Red, Iceberg White and the striking Sport Livery, the Monster + is a statement of intent. Visit GT Motorcycles in Plymouth to see the latest Ducati Monster + in person and arrange your test ride.
