The Ducati Monster V2 is the latest evolution of Ducati’s original naked bike, the model that effectively created the naked sportsbike category more than three decades ago and still carries that name with pride. It keeps the compact, approachable feel that made the original Monster such a breakthrough while adding genuinely modern performance beneath the familiar trellis inspired silhouette that has long defined the model’s identity.
Power comes from an 890cc 90 degree V-twin, its 96mm by 61.5mm bore and stroke and 13.1:1 compression ratio, with variable intake valve timing, producing 111hp at 9,000rpm and 91.1Nm of torque at 7,250rpm, enough for real excitement without becoming intimidating. Full ride-by-wire fuel injection, with one injector per cylinder, sharpens throttle response, and drive is sent through a six speed gearbox fitted with Ducati Quick Shift up and down for smooth, fast changes whether commuting or riding briskly, via a 520 chain running on a 16 tooth front and 42 tooth rear sprocket. A hydraulically controlled slipper clutch keeps the lever light and manages engine braking on hard downshifts.
A monocoque aluminium frame, in the modern Monster style, carries a 43mm Showa upside down fork and a preload adjustable Showa monoshock, tuned for an approachable yet capable ride. Twin 320mm front discs, gripped by radial Brembo M4.32 four piston callipers, and a 245mm rear disc with a floating Brembo calliper, provide confident, easily modulated braking, while Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres in 120/70 ZR17 front and 180/55 ZR17 rear sizes add genuine grip and feel. At 175kg with a manageable 815mm seat height and 1,492mm wheelbase, it stays light, narrow and easy to paddle around at a standstill.
