The Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally is the long range, off road focused version of Ducati’s adventure flagship, built for multi day expeditions far from the nearest fuel station rather than shorter trips. It sits alongside the sportier Pikes Peak as a specialist variant of the standard V4, but where that model chases cornering speed, the Rally chases distance and rough road capability, a philosophy every part of its specification reflects.
It uses the same 1,158cc V4 Granturismo engine as the standard V4, with an 83mm by 53.5mm bore and stroke, 14.0:1 compression and the same counter-rotating crankshaft, producing 170hp at 10,750rpm and 123.8Nm of torque at 9,000rpm through a six speed gearbox fitted with the latest Ducati Quick Shift up and down, driving through a chain final drive on a 16 tooth front and 42 tooth rear sprocket over a 1,572mm wheelbase. Continental ride-by-wire fuel injection keeps throttle response crisp and predictable regardless of terrain, while a hydraulically controlled wet clutch with self servo action and slipper function manages aggressive downshifts on loose or uneven surfaces without unsettling the chassis.
A fully adjustable Marzocchi 50mm upside down fork with electronic compression damping, working through Ducati Skyhook Suspension EVO, and a fully adjustable rear monoshock with the same electronic control, handle rough surfaces with a composure that belies the bike’s size. Twin 330mm front discs with Brembo Stylema four piston callipers and a 280mm rear disc with Cornering ABS provide strong stopping power, while Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tyres, a 120/70 R19 front and 170/60 R17 rear, and a class leading 230mm of ground clearance keep it capable well beyond tarmac. At 240kg it is the heaviest Multistrada V4, a trade off for the huge 30 litre fuel tank that extends its range well beyond every other model in the range.
An adjustable seat spanning 790mm to 861mm keeps it accessible to different riders despite its touring focused bulk.
