The Ducati Scrambler Nightshift brings a sharper, more grown up edge to the Scrambler range, styled for evening rides through town as much as longer weekend miles, and positioned as the more sophisticated sibling within the family. Power comes from the familiar air-cooled 803cc L-twin, its 88mm bore, 66mm stroke and 11.0:1 compression ratio, with SOHC desmodromic valve timing producing 73hp at 8,250rpm and 65.2Nm of torque at 7,000rpm, driven through a six speed gearbox fitted with Ducati Quick Shift up and down and a hydraulically controlled slipper wet multiplate clutch for smooth, confident changes.
Electronic fuel injection through a 50mm throttle body with ride by wire keeps the response clean regardless of how the bike is being ridden, and drive reaches the rear wheel via a chain final drive. Spoked aluminium wheels mark the Nightshift out visually, running a wider 120/70 R17 front tyre in place of the taller 110/80 R18 fitted to the rest of the range, for a noticeably sharper, more direct steering feel at low speed. An upside down 41mm Kayaba fork and a preload adjustable Kayaba rear shock keep the ride composed, while a 330mm front disc with a Brembo four piston radial caliper and Bosch Cornering ABS, together with a 245mm rear disc, provide confident stopping power.
Ducati Traction Control and a choice of two riding modes let the rider match delivery to the conditions, and a full LED lighting system with a daytime running light rounds off the specification. A 14.5 litre tank carries over from the rest of the range, and at 178kg with a 795mm seat height and a 1,449mm wheelbase, it stays every bit as manageable as the rest of the family. It suits riders who want classic Scrambler style but with a moodier, more considered edge than the brighter Icon or Full Throttle, whether commuting after dark or heading out on a longer ride at the weekend when the sun goes down.
