The Honda CMX1100 Rebel mixes classic bobber style with real muscle, the largest and most powerful machine in Honda’s Rebel cruiser family. Its long, low silhouette and minimalist bodywork hide a genuinely torquey big-twin engine underneath, giving it presence that belies its relatively compact dimensions. It looks every inch the custom cruiser without ever having seen a workshop, thanks to Honda’s own factory attention to detail.
A 1,084cc parallel twin, with a 270 degree crank, Unicam SOHC head and four valves per cylinder, uses a 92 x 81.5mm bore and stroke and 10.1:1 compression to produce 65kW at 7,250rpm and a strong 98Nm of torque low down at just 4,750rpm, exactly where a cruiser rider wants it. It is available with either a conventional six-speed manual gearbox or Honda’s six-speed DCT automatic Dual Clutch Transmission, which shifts by itself for effortless around-town riding without ever needing a clutch lever, yet can still be shifted manually via paddles when the rider wants more control.
A 43mm cartridge-style fork with preload adjustment and a preload-adjustable twin piggyback rear shock keep the ride settled over poor surfaces, while a single 330mm floating front disc with a four-piston monobloc radial-mount caliper and a 256mm rear disc with a single-piston caliper provide strong stopping power that belies the bike’s cruiser image. At 226kg in manual form, or 236kg with DCT, with a 1,520mm wheelbase and a low 710mm seat height, it stays surefooted and confidence-inspiring for riders of all sizes, including shorter riders who might otherwise be put off cruisers this size. Wide handlebars and forward-set footpegs put the rider in a relaxed, feet-forward stance typical of a genuine cruiser.
A roomier layout, with handlebars raised and pulled back and footpegs moved forward, gives a relaxed, stretched-out riding position ideal for longer days in the saddle, while a crisp five-inch TFT screen with Honda RoadSync connectivity keeps things modern and a 13.5 litre tank supports a decent range between stops. It suits those wanting genuine cruiser presence and low-down torque without an intimidating riding position. Available now at GT Motorcycles, your Honda dealer in Plymouth.
