The Kawasaki Ninja H2R is the most extreme machine Kawasaki builds, a factory order only hypersport engineered purely for closed circuit track use rather than the road. It sits above even the H2 SX in the supercharged family as an uncompromising statement of intent, developed and built almost entirely in-house down to its own supercharger, wearing bodywork sculpted purely around aerodynamic efficiency at speeds no road machine will ever see.
At its core is a 998cc liquid-cooled in-line four with a supercharger, DOHC 16-valve heads, a comparatively low 8.3:1 compression ratio judged against boost pressure, a 76 by 55mm bore and stroke, and dual fuel injection through 50mm throttle bodies, producing a staggering 228kW (310PS) at 14,000rpm and 165Nm of torque at 12,500rpm. That supercharger, like the rest of the engine, is designed and built entirely within Kawasaki’s own facilities, drawing on the group’s aerospace and gas turbine expertise rather than relying on a proprietary aftermarket unit. That output is sent through a six-speed dog-ring gearbox and wet multi-disc clutch, with digital ignition and wet sump lubrication plus an oil cooler managing heat that few production engines ever generate, giving acceleration and top speed figures that go far beyond anything permitted on public roads.
A trellis-style high-tensile steel frame with a swingarm mounting plate and 108mm of trail carries the 216kg machine on a 43mm inverted fork and an Öhlins TTX36 rear shock with a piggyback reservoir and full damping adjustment, across a 1,450mm wheelbase and 130mm of ground clearance built for stability at genuinely extreme speed. Dual semi-floating 330mm Brembo discs with Brembo Stylema monobloc calipers provide the stopping power, and the 830mm seat height puts the rider low into aerodynamic bodywork built specifically around the supercharger housing, with a 17 litre tank sized for track sessions rather than road touring.
Every detail on the H2R reflects the craftsmanship poured into its construction, from the mirror-finished bodywork to race-only electronics tuned for circuit use rather than road compromise. This is a competition motorcycle intended strictly for closed-course use, built for connoisseurs and serious track day riders who want the absolute pinnacle of Kawasaki performance with no concessions made.
