The Kawasaki Z H2 is the supercharged flagship of Kawasaki’s naked Z range, taking forced induction straight from the Ninja H2 hypersports project and wrapping it in aggressive, muscular Sugomi styling. It stands apart from every naturally aspirated naked rival by sheer force of engineering, all within a compact 2,085mm overall length.
A 998cc liquid-cooled inline-four with DOHC 16-valve heads, a 76 x 55mm bore and stroke and an integrated supercharger, produces a huge 200PS at 11,000rpm and 137Nm of torque at 8,500rpm, fed by four 40mm throttle bodies. A six-speed gearbox and wet multi-disc manual clutch put that power down, the supercharger keeping delivery startlingly linear rather than peaky, so the surge of acceleration arrives smoothly however hard the throttle is opened, forced lubrication and a dedicated oil supply keeping the whole assembly settled under sustained load.
A trellis, high-tensile steel frame with a 104mm trail carries a Showa SFF-BP fork with adjustable compression and rebound damping plus spring preload, and a New Uni-Trak Showa gas-charged shock with adjustable rebound damping and preload at the rear, the linkage’s progressive action keeping the ride composed as speeds rise. Dual semi-floating 320mm discs with radial-mount Brembo M4.32 monobloc four-piston calipers, stiffer under hard use than a conventional axial design, provide serious stopping power, backed by a single-piston rear caliper on a 260mm disc, gripping 120/70 front and 190/55 rear tyres. At 239kg, just 810mm wide and 1,130mm tall to the standard screen, with an 830mm seat, a 1,455mm wheelbase and 140mm of ground clearance, it turns with genuine agility for the power on tap.
A full colour TFT screen displays everything from gear position and boost pressure to an IMU-based lean angle indicator and Kawasaki’s intelligent braking readout, and a 19-litre tank keeps it usable for daily riding despite the supercharged performance beneath, with a screen adjustable to a taller position for faster roads. It suits experienced riders who want the ultimate naked bike thrill without sacrificing everyday usability.
