The Ducati Scrambler Icon Dark takes the essential Icon formula and strips it back further still, trading colour and chrome for a pared down, minimalist finish that suits riders who prefer the Scrambler’s character without any visual noise. It shares the Icon’s air-cooled 803cc L-twin, its 88mm bore, 66mm stroke and 11.0:1 compression ratio, with SOHC desmodromic valve timing producing 73hp at 8,250rpm and 65.2Nm of torque at 7,000rpm, but here the six speed gearbox is fitted with Ducati Quick Shift up and down for cleaner, clutchless changes, backed by a hydraulically controlled slipper wet multiplate clutch and a chain final drive to a 46 tooth rear sprocket. Electronic fuel injection through a 50mm throttle body with ride by wire keeps response sharp regardless of the understated bodywork wrapped around it. The same tubular steel trellis frame, 41mm Kayaba upside down fork and preload adjustable Kayaba rear shock sit beneath the Icon Dark, keeping the chassis light and agile rather than chasing outright sharpness. A 330mm front disc with a Brembo four piston radial caliper and Bosch Cornering ABS, plus a 245mm rear disc, deliver the same confident stopping as the rest of the range, while Pirelli MT 60 RS tyres, an 18 inch front and 17 inch rear, complete the understated package. An anodised handlebar clamp and matte, blacked out bodywork give it a stealthier look than the standard Icon, while a 4.3 inch TFT display with ride by wire throttle brings a more modern edge to the cockpit. A 14.5 litre tank matches the rest of the range, and at 176kg with a 795mm seat height and a 1,449mm wheelbase, the riding experience underneath the styling stays just as approachable. It suits riders who want Scrambler character in its most understated, stripped back form, favouring a single, moodier finish over the brighter options elsewhere in the range, with the added benefit of the quickshifter the standard Icon does without. See it at GT Motorcycles, your Ducati dealer in Plymouth, where riders across Devon and Cornwall can arrange finance and book a test ride on the darkest Scrambler in the line-up.
